 Compare diesel and battery

The current situation (early 2011) shows that a car needs an amount of 30 kilograms of diesel to travel a distance of 400 kilometers, while it needs a battery weighing 450 kilograms to travel the same distance. This example explains why the price of an electric car is more than the price of one that runs on gasoline or diesel, because the battery industry materials are expensive and the role of scientific research and universities is trying to use alternative materials that are less expensive and more efficient. The coming years will show the extent of success on this path, and whoever arrives at a sound solution will monopolize the patent rights and gain a lot from car manufacturers worldwide
